GO! St. Louis Halloween Adds 5K to 2012 Event
10K prize purse; costume contest in several categories for October 14 fall festival

St. Louis Halloween 10K, 5K & Fun Run, features Missouri's largest 10K race and attracts many of the region's elite runners, along with thousands of runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, who dress in costume and compete for fun. On Sunday, October 14, more than 8,000 participants are expected to compete for fun, cash prizes and pumpkin pies. New in 2012 is the addition of a 5K race, which is capped at the first 2,000 registrants. The event also features a 1-Mile Fun Run that is popular with families.
The 10K offers prize money three deep ($500, $300 and $200) and the first three finishers in each age group receive a pumpkin pie as a special award.
A Halloween costume contest is held post-race and includes special prizes for the winners. Participants receive a long-sleeve shirt, finisher medal and lots of post-race treats. The course starts and finishes in downtown St. Louis and includes plenty of scary cool things, which add to the festive feel of the event.
As part of the festivities we will have a free costume contest for race participants only. A panel of judges will award prizes in the following categories: Most Original, Scariest, Funniest, Youth and Best of Show (comprised of the first place winners of all the categories). Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category with the winners receiving gift certificates, gift baskets and tickets.
