CINCINNATI - (February 28, 2007) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is expanding its field in all divisions to accommodate the record amount of registrations already received. After starting the year with a 30 per cent jump in registrations, the Marathon and its weekend events are now pacing more than 20 per cent ahead.

"We are delighted with the way runners and walkers have responded to the Marathon," said Joe Hale, Flying Pig Marathon board president. "We never want to turn anyone away, so the board has decided to expand the events for both Saturday and Sunday to include everyone."

A record registration of more than 15,000 participants signed up for the Flying Pig weekend of events from May 5-7, 2006. Cecil Franke of Dublin, Indiana, won the 8th edition in an event record time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 25 seconds. In the women's division, 36-year-old Norah Shire of Hyde Park won in a time of 2:56:19.

The 9th Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend is May 4-6, 2007, featuring the full marathon, the Half Marathon presented by National City, Ernst and Young 4-Person Relay, Toyota 10K, 5K and the Piglet presented by First Watch, The Enquirer and Children's Hospital. Other events include the National City Expo and Expotique and Duke Energy Pasta "Pig Out" Dinner. Presenting sponsors are Duke Energy, National City, CoActive Marketing Group, Ernst and Young and Paycor.

The Flying Pig Marathon has been named one of the top 10 "Most Fun Runs" in the world by Runner's World magazine, one of the best corporate brands by Fast Company and is listed in "The Traveling Marathoner: A Complete Guide To Top U.S. Races and Sightseeing on the Run," by Elise Allen.
