BOTHELL, Wash. - Brooks Running Company announced it will sponsor the Mt. San Antonio College (SAC) Relays and Cross Country Invitational beginning in 2014. With this partnership, over 40,000 athletes and 20,000 attendees will celebrate not just the spirit of competition, but also the “run happy” joy of the sport.
“Mt. SAC is one of the oldest and most well respected track and cross country franchises in the nation,” said Brooks Team Brand Manager Steve DeKoker. “At Brooks, running is all we do. To be part of these legendary meets allows us to celebrate the run at the competitive level and the future stars of running.”
The partnership begins with the Mt. SAC Relays, a track meet, in 2014 and also includes the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, the largest cross country meet in the nation, in the fall. Mt. San Antonio College hosts both meets in its hometown of Walnut, Calif. The two meets provide top-tier competition for tens of thousands of high school, college and professional runners each year who look forward to the consistently fast races.
“We are so excited about our new partnership with Brooks Running Company,” said Doug Todd, Mt. SAC Relays and Invite race director. “I have been to Brooks’ events and admire the way the company brings the fun of running to life. I truly believe that we are kindred spirits, and Brooks’ partnership is going to amplify the excitement surrounding our events and grow them to new heights.”
The sponsorship complements Brooks’ quest to support building the future stars of youth and professional running. The company recently announced increased support for the Hansons-Brooks Original Distance Program and creation of the Brooks Beasts Track Club, a Seattle-based middle-distance running team. Additionally, just last month, Brooks hosted the third Brooks PR Invitational where 130 of the country’s fastest young runners set several nation-leading times.
