LOTTERY REGISTRATION INTRODUCED TO THE TC 10 MILE RUN
Kick-off Registration Party at the Uptown Running Room Saturday June 29, 2002

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - (June 12, 2002 - Registration for the 4th annual TC 10 Mile Run (TC10), presented by Seagate, scheduled for Sunday, September 29, moves to a lottery system this year. Last year the field of 3,000 runners filled in 24 hours. For this year's race, the field of 4,000 runners will be accepted June 30 through July 10, and selected by lottery. Pre-registration for the TC10 is available at the inaugural registration kick-off party at the Uptown Running Room, 2801 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis Saturday June 29, 2002 9:00 AM-6:00 PM.

"The TC10, presented by Seagate, is such a popular race that we wanted to give more runners the opportunity to register. The lottery system will increase opportunities for more runners to put their name in the hat," says Dan Finanger, TCM Executive Director. "By hosting a kick-off party, the local community will have the first opportunity to submit entries while maintaining the integrity of this community based event."

The inaugural kick-off registration party for the TC10 will feature special guest Jeff Galloway. Author of a best-selling running book, Runners World columnist, Olympian and motivational speaker, Jeff Galloway will conduct two runs, 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and will also be available for book signing and autographs. Random door prizes will be awarded during the day. The Running Room will have a sidewalk sale with deals on shoes and apparel. Isle Buns & Coffee and Sweetwater Bar & Grille will also have items available for sale with proceeds going to the Twin Cities Marathon Charity Partners. Throughout the kick-off party, 25 guaranteed entries will be drawn each hour. Entries not selected at this event will be added to the general lottery pool. Runners must be present to register and to be selected.

"This registration event is the place to be on Saturday, June 29," said Brian Kelly, Manager of the Uptown Running Room. "What more can you ask for... increase your chances of getting into the 10 mile, meet and run with marathon legend, Jeff Galloway, enjoy food with donations going to charity, win door prizes, save money with our side-walk sale, and much, much more..."

Registration is available on-line at www.twincitiesmarathon.org, or by U.S. mail June 30. Entries for both on-line and mail-in will be accepted through July 10 for a randomly selected lottery drawing. Payment will be processed only for entries selected. Those entries not accepted, will be returned and not charged. Registration will be confirmed by postcard. Each individual can enter only once.

For an entry form, please send a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to the following address:

TC 10 Mile Run
c/o Twin Cities Marathon
2925 Dean Parkway, Suite 110

Completed paper registrations must be mailed to the address listed on the entry form and postmarked between June 30 and July 10, 2002. Walk-ins, faxes, special delivery services, or phone calls will NOT be accepted. All 2000 and 2001 registered participants will be mailed an entry form.
