INDIANAPOLIS - The 2011 edition of the USA Running Circuit (USARC) will include a stop in USA Track & Field's home state with the USA Men's 8 km Championship to be held on June 11, 2011, in Carmel, Indiana.

The championship will be hosted by the inaugural Carmel Marathon Championship Weekend which will offer a marathon, half marathon, 1-mile Family Fitness walk and an 8 km run featuring the men's championship and a total prize purse of $20,000.

"Having a championship in our back yard gives USATF an opportunity to connect with our local community," said USA Track & Field Chief Executive Officer Doug Logan. "With the growth of long distance running as a social movement and the array of events offered in Carmel, this country's top distance runners will have the chance to be center stage on a day that will celebrate the best our sport has to offer."

About the USARC

The USARC is a USA Track & Field road series, featuring USA Championships from one mile to the marathon and attracts the best U.S. distance runners.

The 2010 USARC once again features a record amount of circuit prize money for a non-Olympic year with total prize purse of $623,850 offered by host events. Each year, USARC events give U.S. athletes the opportunity to qualify for various Team USA squads, including the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and the Chiba International Ekiden.

The first ten U.S. runners earn points at each USARC race (15 for first, 12 for second, 10 for third, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1), with a final $12,500 grand prix purse ($6,000, $4,000, and $2,500) for the top three men and women point scorers overall. The USARC points at the USA Marathon Championships will be doubled.

The mission of the USA Running Circuit is to showcase, support, and promote U.S. runners. Since its inception in 1995, the USARC and its races have provided over $6 million dollars to U.S. distance runners.
