> Former champs win Florence, Alabama River Run again
Two former River Run winners returned to the winner's circle Saturday morning. Faye Sanders took top honors in the female division, winning the event for the first time since 1986. Jerry Sanders won the men's division in the 25th Tennessee River Run at Veterans Park for his fifth victory in the event.

> South Jones Band of Braves 5K/ 1 Mile Fun Run
The second annual South Jones Band of Braves 5K Run/Walk was held on September 14 with about 65 participants. For the second year in a row the weather looked bad up until just before race time.

The Tenth VHTRC Women's Half Marathon Trail Run was held in warm, humid weather. Kristen Eddy led 168 finishers across the line.

She's the fastest in the world at the 10K distance and now she's out to claim the world 8K record. 10K world record holder Asmae Leghzaoui of Morocco announced her commitment today to run the candle-lit streets of Kingsport in the Indian Path Medical Center & SunTrust Bank Crazy 8's 8k Run. Race date is July 13.

> RTW Runners Greated by Heat and Humidity
Two-time former RTW course record holder Andy Rihn overcame an early lead by multi-time RTW winner Craig Calmes to win for the second consecutive time. As was the case in the previous race, any possibility of challenging Gabriel Rodriguez' CR of 15:29 was made virtually impossible by the weather conditions - temperature in the upper 70's at the start with high humidity.

How many 82-year-old men can still run 6.2 miles? Phil Curry from Decatur is one. Curry was the last of 79 finishers at Saturday's Alabama A&M 10K road race and he was both disgusted and proud.

Rainy, windy conditions cooled things off and stopped just in time for the start of the 2nd Annual Survivor 5K in Atlanta. The 163 finishers heated things back up as the fast, 3-loop criterium style course garnered some spectacular times.
