LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (October 4, 2007) – Disney’s Wide World of Sports announced today that Heelys, Inc. will be presenting sponsor for Disney’s Kids’ Races for 2008. Heelys, Inc., which designs, markets and distributes innovative, action sports-inspired products, is well known for its popular HEELYS-wheeled footwear that allows user to transition from walking or running to skating.
As part of the relationship with Disney’s Wide World of Sports, Heelys will create a cool new race, the Heelys Kids’ Race & Roll, which will be a part of the eight Disney kid races. The Heelys Kids’ Race & Roll will debut at the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, Jan. 10-13, 2008, and will encompass a 400-yard combination race and obstacle course for children ages eight to 14 years old.
“We’re thrilled to launch our partnership with Disney’s Wide World of Sports,” said Heelys, Inc. Vice President of Marketing Jim Peliotes. “Disney is known for great family adventures and Heelys has long encouraged families to exercise together and lead healthy lives, so this partnership is a natural fit, not to mention a whole lot of fun.”

In addition to launching the new Race & Roll event, the Heelys National Skate Team will perform demonstrations at scheduled events that will include tricks and stunts. And Heelys will have significant presence and signage at Disney’s Kids’ Races.
During Marathon Weekend, the Heelys Kids’ Race & Roll will be one of five events for kids taking place at the track and field venue at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex on Friday, Jan. 11 and Saturday Jan. 12 at 11:00 a.m. The other kids’ races are a 400-yard dash for ages 7-8, a 200-yard dash for ages 4-6, a 100-yard dash for ages 1-3 and a “Diaper Dash” for infants under 12 months. Registration for each kids’ race is $5 and each participant receives a special medal.
“Having Heelys as the presenting sponsor for the Disney’s Kids' Races is a perfect fit for Disney's Wide World of Sports,” said John Bisignano, Manager of Account Development for Disney Sports Attractions. “We are committed to providing an experience that includes activities for everyone in the family and the integration of Heely's Kids’ Race and Roll into the Kids' Races will support our efforts to promote children’s health and fitness.”
