Disney's Race for the Taste 10K Celebrates Fitness and International Cuisine

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Sept. 28, 2007) – The largest field in the history of Disney's Race for the Taste 10K will have the opportunity to celebrate fitness and enjoy international cuisine at this year’s event on Oct. 7 at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. More than 3,200 runners-roughly 500 more than last year’s event- are set to participate in the event and less than one week out the event is less than 100 runners away from capacity.
The race will take place in conjunction with the 12th Annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, which runs Sept. 28-Nov. 11. Athletes will enjoy a ceremonial toast to start the race. During the run, participants will be entertained by festive music and entertainment. Race for the Taste 10K will start at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex then move on to Disney-MGM Studios’ attraction, Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. Runners will continue along Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and finish through the World Showcase at Epcot, the center of the Food and Wine Festival. At the finish, each participant will receive a medal shaped like a chef’s hat shaped with miniature silverware dangling from it and be treated to sample tastings of culinary delight. There will be three taste stations where runners can enjoy Strawberry and Mango Fruit Salad with Cilantro from Chile, Spicy Beef Empanadas from Argentina and a Kiwi and Custard Roll from New Zealand.
Disney's Race for the Taste 10K Kids' Races are available to all children 10 and under. Registration is free and will take place only on race morning at Epcot®. Distances will vary by age. These races will take place at Epcot®, don't miss out on the fun!
Athletes can register online for Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K by visiting www.disneyraceforthetaste.com or by calling (407) 938-3398 to have a registration form mailed. All runners must be at least 11 years old and must maintain a 15-minute mile pace. Race registration is $45 or for race registration plus theme park ticket, then it will be $73. Registration ends on Saturday, Oct. 6, as there will be no registration allowed on race day. Kid’s races are free and registration will take place race morning only.
The Endurance Series at Walt Disney World Resort gives recreational athletes of all ages and abilities the chance to walk, jog, run, bike and swim their way “around the world.” From marathons to road races and triathlons, participating athletes from across the country and around the world compete to stay in shape, to achieve personal-best times and to raise donations for charitable causes.
Popular Endurance Series events include the Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon (January), the Walt Disney World Triathlon (September) and the Tower of Terror 13K (October).
