The Critz Tybee Run Fest, a longstanding, annual Tybee Island tradition, is poised to have another successful year that includes several new features debuting for the 2013 race event.

The Critz Tybee Run Fest, with its five different race courses of 5K, 10K, 2.8 Mile Beach Run, 1 mile and Half Marathon collectively equal to a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles, provides a great athletic outlet for adults and marathon enthusiasts, is introducing an new race event run to attract future generation of marathoners. The 2013 Run Fest will be hosting the First Annual Kids Run, a 1/7 mile loop near the Tybee Island Lighthouse on North Beach, on Friday, February 1st at 6 PM right before the start of the 5K event.

“This new event is a great way to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle among the smaller children, which are not be able to run in any of the other five events,” said Dale Critz, Co-Founder and Title Sponsor of Critz Tybee Run Fest. “The Critz Tybee Run Fest 2013 has engaged a perfect sponsor for the Kids Run in addition to the current sponsorship line-up.” More information can be found on www.critztybeerun/sponsors.

Basil & YO Basil of Wilmington Island (www.basilsonline.com), one of the most kid friendly local businesses in the Low Country restaurant scene, is underwriting the race and will be promoting the event and securing registrations for the race. Following the Kids Run, the first day of the race weekend continues with the 5K night run at 6:15PM, and an opening party sponsored North Beach Bar & Grill. Runners, their families, friends and spectators should anticipate great food, drinks and live music. .
