WASHINGTON, D.C. - As he crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 26 minutes, 36 seconds, defending champion Michael Wardian, age 32, of Arlington, VA also "Beat the Clock" in winning the 2007 Wirefly National Marathon on Saturday, March 24. By improving his 2006 course time of 2:30:55, a $1000 charitable contribution will be made in Wardian's name to the Greater Washington Sports Alliance's League of Charities by Fashion Time, the Official Time Keeper of 2007 Wirefly National Marathon.

As a new father himself of 8-month old, Pierce Miler, Wardian was touched that his winning effort would benefit children's sport and fitness organizations in communities through the DC Metro area. The Greater Washington Sports Alliance League of Charities includes the Boys and Girls Clubs, Ft. Dupont Ice Arena, Joy of Sports Foundation, DC Scores, Winners Lacrosse, Washington Tennis and Education Foundation, Five Star Foundation, Special Olympics, YMCA and Prince George's Tennis and Education Foundation.

Ali Zargarpur, director of franchising for Fashion Time, told Wardian of this new award just after the race champion crossed the finish line.

Zargarpur said, "This year we will be starting a new tradition with the Fashion Time "Beat the Clock" challenge with all of the races we sponsor. If any runner beats the course record, we will donate $1000 to the beneficiaries of the race. We believe it will give the top runners a little extra to run for and will help get the charities more involved in the race. We are proud to sponsor the Wirefly National Marathon as it is the only marathon that takes place entirely in Washington, DC."

Fashion Time is one of the nation's largest independent watch retailers with 20 locations spanning from Baltimore, MD to Norfolk, VA. Fashion Time offers over 50 brands and thousands of styles to choose from as well as service on any brand of watch. For a complete directory call 1-800-508-1992 x114 or visit shopFT.com.
