Sharp, Michta win USA Race Walk titles

Ray Sharp and Maria Michta were the respective men's and women's winners Sunday at the 2007 USA 40 km Race Walk Championships at Joe Palaia Park in Ocean Township, New Jersey.
Sharp easily won the men's race in 3 hours 27 minutes 50 seconds, with John Soucheck of Shore AC the runner-up in 3:45:52. Steve Pecinovsky placed third in 3:57:14 and Ian Whatley was fourth in 3:59:30.
Michta also won the women's race easily, crossing the finish line in 3:51:22, well ahead of runner-up Jennifer Marlborough, who finished in 4:26:23. Karen Karavanic finished third in 4:55:09, with Mari Paul placing fourth in 5:07:13.
