Race2Rebuild Partners with HGTV Stars and Spartan Race
Home Improvement Celebrity Experts Raise Funds for National Disaster Relief Projects as Part of the Endurance Charity Racing Team's "Pick Your Own Race" Program and Spartan Race’s Charity Partner Program

NEW YORK – Race2Rebuild, now in its second year as the endurance charity racing team created by athletes to help families come home following natural disasters, is expanding its roster and officially launching the “Pick Your Own Race” option. This program will enable participants to choose their own race to raise funds to support the cause. As part of the launch of this new offering, well-known HGTV and home improvement show hosts will race the Pennsylvania Spartan Race on July 12th with Race2Rebuild and raise $25,000 to support national nonprofit Rebuilding Together to help a family come home. This race also marks the team’s first as part of Spartan Race’s new Charity Partner Program, which gives back up to 15% of revenue generated from athletes using the Race2Rebuild code.
In its inaugural year, Race2Rebuild raised funds to rebuild homes that were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy through racing two New York City area races, the NYC Triathlon and the Staten Island Half Marathon, and later had the opportunity to volunteer with Rebuilding Together to rebuild homes. This year, Race2Rebuild has expanded its offerings and will allow participants to raise funds through racing any race they choose. Race2Rebuild is excited to announce that one of those chosen races is the Spartan Race in Palmerton, PA on July 12th. At this race, TV hosts will race on behalf of Race2Rebuild, including Mark Clement of MyFixItUpLife. The proceeds will go towards Rebuilding Together projects to help rebuild homes that were destroyed in natural disasters.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Race2Rebuild for the Pennsylvania Spartan Race,” says Mark Clement from MyFixItUpLife. “We’re passionate about getting families into comfortable and happy homes, and Race2Rebuild’s mission is to do just that. Our team of guys is also competitive and committed to fitness, so the Spartan Race was the perfect opportunity to merge our two passions together and give to a good cause.”
Adds Spartan Race founder Joe De Sena, “We couldn’t think of a better kick-off for the Spartan Race Charity Partner Program than to support Race2Rebuild. Not only have we held races on Staten Island, but shortly after Hurricane Sandy, the Spartan community added considerable muscle in the form of actual physical labor to assist in clean-up. In fact, since then, in honor of this effort, most Spartan races hold early morning ‘hurricane heats’ for our most committed competitors.
“Through Race2Rebuild, we’re proud to support the resilience and recovery of those affected by natural disaster,” De Sena said.
“Just like Rebuilding Together, HGTV and DIY Network content provides the tools people need to live in a safe and healthy environment,” says Annette Brun, VP Cause Marketing and Social Responsibility for Scripps Networks Interactive. “Race2Rebuild is yet another way for our on-air hosts to bring attention to Rebuilding Together with an emphasis on fitness, and a healthy pursuit to help families live safely and comfortably in their homes.”
