QUANTICO, VA - Just unveiled, the new Historic Half App is available free of charge for all Apple and Android users through the App Store. Displaying technology much more advanced than applied by our nation's forefathers, the new Historic Half App provides runners and spectators all of the information they want to know about the Sunday, May 18 event while immersed in the grand history of the Colonial-era in the City of Fredericksburg, VA. Also, runners and spectators can Track A Runner moving along the 13.1 mile Historic Half course through the program that provides instant results via text, email, Facebook or Twitter. Register now for Track A Runner free of charge at www.marinemarathon.com.

The Historic Half App, sponsored by Xact, offers easy access to the Marine Corps Historic Half Weekend schedule (May 16-18) and provides constant updates to the event's social media channels, instant leaderboard and individual timing results, course maps, weather forecasts, spectators tips and entry to the colorful Historic Half photo gallery.

"The Marine Corps Historic Half is thrilled to be able to offer the new App to further enhance the Historic Half experience for runners and spectators," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director.

Although spectators will be lining the Marine Corps Historic Half course, proud family and friends located anywhere can also join in the celebration of the Historic Half by following their participant over the 5K, 10K, 15K and 20K splits and across the finish line all the while receiving instant text messages or email updates. Historic Half participants can register pre-race to have instant posting of their results on their Facebook timeline or over Twitter. Runners and spectators can register to Track A Runner through event morning.

Nearly 8,000 participants will run the scenic Marine Corps Historic Half now celebrating its seventh year. Limited registration is available to run the Historic Half, Historic 10K or Semper Fred 5K events that start simultaneously in Fredericksburg at 7 a.m.

All Historic Half finisher race-day results will be immediately available on the results page of the website.
