First-ever UNITE half marathon at Rutgers New Brunswick is this weekend

WHAT: Inaugural UNITE Half Marathon at Rutgers New Brunswick, produced and owned by CGI Racing and co-sponsored by Rutgers Department of Recreation
WHO: More than 10,000 people: 4,000 runners, entertainers (25 local bands!), volunteers (hundreds of Rutgers students!), and thousands of spectators
WHERE: The New Brunswick campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey, at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center, Busch Campus
WHEN: April 18, 8:30 a.m. (FREE health and fitness Expo on Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17)
WHY: Fun, fitness, and support for many great charities, including the Rutgers Sports Clubs, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (Team in Training), and the Teal Ribbon/Ovarian Cancer Society.
DETAILS:
The race begins at 8:30 am on Busch Campus at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center featuring the Rutgers Alumni band. The scenic 13.1-mile course will take runners past the new football stadium and the iconic Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC) for a triumphant finish down College Avenue to the finish line festival in Voorhees Mall. This inspirational event is FREE to the entire community, so come and share in the excitement!
The following vehicular road closures will occur on Sunday, April 18; Livingston Campus from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., Busch Campus 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m., and College Ave. Campus from 8 a.m. –12:30 a.m.
CGI Racing is a N.J.-based race management company with more than 19 years of experience producing regional, national and international events. Its founders, Michele and Larry Redrow, are serious runners who draw upon their racing and fitness expertise to organize fun, safe and rewarding races. CGI Racing also owns and produces the New Jersey State Triathlon (the largest triathlon in the state) and the Philadelphia Women’s Triathlon (one of the largest all-women’s races in the nation).
