PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler returns on Sunday, November 9 with a guaranteed prize purse of $15,500, including new American-only bonuses totaling $5000 as part of the inaugural American Development Program. Each race champion of this second annual fall event will take home $2500, while the top four U.S. men and women finishers will be eligible for additional bonus money.

“The inaugural EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler was a huge success, and we expect our second edition to be even bigger and better,” said Patrice Matamoros, EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler race director. “The increased, guaranteed prize purse should also draw a deep elite field, particularly top American distance runners.”

Last year’s inaugural event, with nearly 4,000 finishers, was won by Kenyans Elijah Muturi Karanja and Sarah Kiptoo in 46:50 and 53:56, respectively, and top Americans were Fernando Cabada (47:32, 5th overall) and Lindsey Scherf (55:55, 4th overall).

A breakdown of the 2014 EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler prize purse is below:
● Open Prize Money: $2500, $1000, $500, $350 and $250
● U.S. Prize Money: $1000, $750, $500 and $250
● Masters Money: $300
● Steel City Road Runners: $200, $100, $50

The USATF-sanctioned event features a scenic USATF-certified course that highlights some of Pittsburgh’s unique neighborhoods. The 10-mile race will start at Station Square and cross four bridges before finishing at EQT Plaza on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh.

The EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler is the third of three events this year in Pittsburgh’s inaugural American Development Program, which is designed to establish Pittsburgh as the destination to launch professional running careers of promising American athletes and Olympic hopefuls.

Since its inception in 2008, Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. has consistently supported elite athlete development and will award more than $175,000 in prize money during its 2014 calendar of events, including the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon & UPMC Health Plan Half Marathon (May 4), GNC Live Well Liberty Mile (August 1) and EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler.

A complete list of professional athletes will be announced closer to the event. For more event information or to register for the race, visit:
