The 21st annual Army Ten-Miler opened registration to runners beginning April 1, 2005 and already has over 13,000 people registered. Due to the space at the Pentagon, the field is limited, this year, to 20,000 runners. Individuals and teams, both civilian and military, can register at www.armytenmiler.com. The early entry fee is $35. After July 31, the entry fee is $40. Deadline for entry is when registration reaches maximum capacity. As fast as people are signing up, registration is expected to close by the end of July.
Race Director, Jim Vandak commented, "Currently we are registering 200 people a day. If you haven't registered, and want to run; I urge you to register soon!" Starting at 8:00 AM on Sunday, October 2, the race starts and finishes at the Pentagon passing such national treasures as the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the Capitol building as it makes its way through our nation's capital.
In addition to race day activities, the weekend also features an expo, clinics, and the annual Geico Pasta Dinner on Saturday, October 1. Dinner tickets may be purchased online for $25. Runners and spectators can enjoy the post-race festivities including live music, a Youth Activity Zone, and a HOOAH Tent Zone where Army Teams from around the world show their spirit.
2005 promises another exceptional 10-mile race steeped in the Army's Tradition of Excellence. 20,000 national and international runners are expected to participate in America's largest Ten-Miler. The U.S. Army Military District of Washington annually produces the Army Ten-Miler. Hooah!
