WASHINGTON, DC - The Army's 23rd Annual 10-mile race is pleased to announce the increase of its running field to 26,000! As a premier event on the Mid-Atlantic running calendar, the Army Ten-Miler (ATM) has increased its runner numbers to allow more people to take part in the event. The race caters to civilians as well as members of the military and features individual and team competitions.

Registration will open on Monday, April 2 and can be done online at www.armytenmiler.com. The field is expected to fill up, despite the increase, by mid-June so runners are encouraged to sign up early to ensure entry into America's largest 10-mile race.

Army Ten-Miler officials will use a wave start again to accommodate America's largest ten-mile race. Officials successfully implemented, for the first time, a wave start for last year's 24,000 running field. "Last year 97% of our runners gave ATM a good or excellent rating and 88% said that ATM is an event to experience," commented Jim Vandak, Race Director. He continued, "We work hard to provide a "world class" running event and we look forward to another great edition of this Army tradition in 2007."

About the Army Ten-Miler The 23rd Army Ten-Miler takes place on Sunday, October 7. Association of the US Army (AUSA) and KBR are the co-lead sponsors for this year's event. This Army tradition annually attracts runners of a variety of experience levels from all over the world to run a course that starts and finishes at the Pentagon and passes such national landmarks as the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Capitol. Haled as a unique way to see DC, its many famed landmarks, and monuments, the Army Ten-Miler is an event not to be missed. Race weekend activities include a free and open to the public two-day Race Expo, clinics and a press conference. Race day features the Health Net Federal Services Youth Runs, the 94.7 Post-Race Party featuring bands, entertainment and a live broadcast, the HOOAH Tent Zone, and the Health Net Federal Services Youth Activity Zone complete with Army racing displays, inflatables, the GEICO Gecko, and much more.
