ZOOMA Brings Women’s Race to Cape Cod
Posted Wednesday, 6 June, 2012
Falmouth, MA (June 5, 2012) - The Muscle Milk Light ZOOMA Women's Race Series is pleased to announce the first ever women’s half marathon race in New England. On September 22, 1,000 women will run a half marathon or 10K race through the streets of Falmouth and celebrate with a pampering post-race party at the newly-renovated Sea Crest Beach Hotel. Registration is still open for this year’s event, but with a cap of 1,000 entries, the race is expected to sell out before race day.
ZOOMA’s mission is to inspire women to live healthy and active lives by providing fun, fit girls’ weekend getaway opportunities. The inaugural event at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel will provide an opportunity for women to challenge themselves with a half marathon or 10K, then celebrate and relax in a beautiful setting.
The half marathon and 10K courses start at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel, the Official Hotel and Race Headquarters for the inaugural ZOOMA Cape Cod race. Both race routes will run along Old Silver Beach and near quintessential Cape Cod cottages before finishing at the hotel. The ZOOMA After-Party Expo, which is free and open to the public, is a unique combination of post-race party and race expo with a fun “girls’ weekend” atmosphere. Post-race massages, recovery drinks from Muscle Milk Light, live music, wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, light snacks, demos and shopping will pamper runners after the race and extend the post-race celebration beyond the finish line.
ZOOMA Founder and Executive Director Brae Blackley, an entrepreneur and running mother, is expecting a sell out for the inaugural ZOOMA Cape Cod event. “The Falmouth Board of Selectmen graciously allowed this new event into the community, but limited our numbers in the first year to 1,000. The early buzz around this new event in our series indicates that the race will sell out early,” says Blackley. “We are grateful to Falmouth and the Sea Crest for supporting the new event and are excited to provide participants with an unforgettable experience.”
ZOOMA’s charity partner in Cape Cod is the Cape Cod Child Development Program (CCCD). As a leading child care, early education and family support service provider for the communities of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and the town of Wareham, CCCD offers high-quality child care, early childhood education, after-school care and family support programs that are accessible and affordable.
