Time Warner Cable announces $5,000 in cash prizes for Arc Race. The 14th Annual Arc Race is a local community event which raises important funding for people with developmental disabilities. Arc Race 2008, presented by Time Warner Cable, is expected to draw over 1,500 people to Long Branch Park to participate in a Half Marathon, 5k run or 3k fun walk.

The $5,000 cash prizes are a new addition to Arc Race which has previously awarded high-value Wegmans gift cards to top competitors in the Half Marathon and 5k events. Time Warner Cable will award $1,000 to each of the top male and female finishers in the Half Marathon. Second place male and female finishers will receive $750 while those placing third will earn $500. The first male and female competitors to cross the 5k finish line will each receive $250 each.

“These Time Warner Cable cash prizes will help draw additional participants to the already popular Arc Race,” says Stanfort Perry, Arc of Onondaga Executive Director. “We’re taking Arc Race to the next level.”

Courses for the Half Marathon and 5k runs are certified by USA Track & Field (USATF) and timing results are accurately measured with ChampionChip technology. Every participant in the runs and walk will receive long-sleeve race shirts and be recognized for helping support programs for local people with developmental disabilities.

The whole community is invited to take part in Arc Race’s festivities which include an extensive Family Fun Zone with free entertainment and games, as well as a new Health & Wellness tent offering free massages, chiropractic services, information and resources. The Arc Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

For additional information about running, walking, donating or volunteering for Arc Race visit www.arcon.org.
