Manchester, NH, August 11th, 2005 - Alene Reta and Alemtsehay Misganan, both running out of New York City, were the fastest male and female finishers in a field of nearly 4,000 runners and walkers who finished the CIGNA HealthCare Corporate 5K Road Race held Thursday evening, August 11th , in downtown Manchester, NH. The Honorable Mayor Robert Baines fired the starting gun that marked the thirteenth running of New Hampshire's largest road race and the third largest timed road race in New England following the Boston Marathon and the Falmouth Road Race. Proceeds from the race will support childhood obesity education and awareness initiatives in New Hampshire.

"The race is a celebration of fitness," said Carol Martin-Krochmal, race director and new business manager for CIGNA HealthCare of New Hampshire. "From employers who use the race as a way to build team spirit and improve the health of their workforce, to elite and recreational runners, walkers and families with strollers out to have a good time, this race has something for everyone."

For the serious runners, the race offers cash awards, totaling $4,000 to the first five male and female finishers. The cash awards start at $600 each for the first male and female winners and decrease by one hundred dollar increments for the second, third, fourth and fifth place male and female finishers. There are also various course record bonuses ranging from $250 to $1,000 each.

Corporate teams are a major part of the CIGNA HealthCare Corporate 5K Road Race. This year almost 200 corporate teams participated, ranging in size from five to one hundred and nine team members. Awards are given out for fastest male, female and co-ed corporate teams as wells as for the teams with the most participants and highest percentage of participants.

Contributing sponsors of the road race include WMUR-TV9, 96.5 The MILL, Jillian's, Southwest Airlines, Shaw's Supermarkets, Coca-Cola, Rockingham Ambulance, Stonyfield Farm, CenCom, LOCO Sports, and Stacey's Pita Chips.

"We want to thank the hundreds of volunteers and CIGNA employees, and the total support of the City of Manchester including the fire, police and parks and recreation departments who make this event possible, " added Martin-Krochmal.
