Patrick Moulton Wins Second Straight ING Hartford Marathon, Jeannette Seckinger Wins Women’s Marathon

HARTFORD, OCTOBER 10, 2009 – The ING Hartford Marathon stepped off its 16 annual event with more than 10,000 participants in the marathon, half-marathon and 5K races. Recognized as a Regional Championship Race by Road Runner’s Club of America, the 16th ING Hartford Marathon celebrated it’s first year as the “Greenest Road Race in America” and enjoyed a strong follow-up year to its inaugural “New England’s Finest” Elite Program from 2008.
For a second straight year, Patrick Moulton of Providence, RI, won the marathon, crossing the finish line in 2:25:22. Moulton was once again recognized within the New England’s Finest Elite Program, which doubled his prize money. In the women’s race, Jeannette Seckinger of Somerville, MA, took first place with a time of 2:46:33. Top three placing runners in both the men’s and women’s marathons were all participants in the New England’s Finest Elite Program.

- 2:32:23 Evan Graves, 28, of Caribou, ME
- 2:34:13 Kevin Jillson, 22, of East Sandwich, MA
- 2:38:31 Marc Robaczynski, 35, of New Hartford, CT
Top five women’s marathon winners are:
- 2:46:33 Jeannette Seckinger, 27, of Somerville, MA
- 2:51:12 Diona Fulton, 29, of Somerville, MA
- 2:53:31 Tara Cardi, 40, of East Greenwich, RI
- 2:55:31 Mary-Lynn Currier, 45, of Canton, CT
- 2:59:25 Conni Grace, 47, Hopewell Junction, NY
In the 13.1 mile men’s half marathon, Brown University student Patrick Tarpy of Providence, RI, took first place with a time of 1:04:43. With a time of 1:06:14, Darese Deniboba of High Falls, NY, took second place and his fellow Westchester Running Club member Harbert Dkuti, also of High Falls, NY, took third place with a time of 1:07:55.
In the women’s half marathon, Salome Kosgei, of High Falls, NY, won with a time of 1:16:31. Following closely in second place, Alemtsehay Misganaw of Ethiopia, came in with a time of 1:16:39. With a time of 1:19:23, Gabriela Trana of Costa Rica came in third.
In the 5K men’s race, High Falls, NY, runner Joseph Ekuom won with a time of 15:25. Coming in second with a time of 15:31 was Ry Sanderson of New Britain, CT. With a time of 16:15, Ben Hildebrand of Middlebury, CT, came in third.
The winner of the women’s 5K was Michelle Sarney of West Bridgewater, MA, with a time of 17:56. Katie Twarog of Providence, RI, came in second with a time of 18:25. With a time of 19:04 to win third place was Zofia Wieciorkowska of Stratford, CT.
