Olympic medalists Hooker, Stuczynski and Willis set for Reebok Boston Indoor Games

BOSTON (Dec. 9, 2008) – Beijing medalists Steve Hooker, Jenn Stuczynski and Nick Willis will be among the headliners at the 2009 Reebok Boston Indoor Games on Feb. 7, organizers announced today. Hooker was victorious in one of the most-exciting contests of the 2008 Olympics, winning the men’s pole vault on his third and last attempt after repeatedly bouncing back from the brink of elimination. After securing the gold medal, the daring Australian went on to break the Olympic Record for the event. This will be Hooker’s second appearance at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games, following a win in 2007.
Stuczynski, who won the Olympic silver medal in the women’s pole vault, is also the 2008 World Indoor Championships silver medalist and outdoor American Record-holder. She is the #2 vaulter of all-time, a six-time US Champion, and defending Reebok Boston Indoor Games champion.
Willis became the first New Zealand track athlete in 32 years to bring home an Olympic medal when he won bronze at 1500 meters in Beijing. The 2006 Commonwealth Games champion and national record-holder at 1500 meters, Willis also broke the New Zealand indoor mark and NCAA record for 3000 meters here in 2004 while competing for the University of Michigan.
Since the Reebok Boston Indoor Games began in 1996, more than 100 Olympic and World Championship medalists have competed in the event, which has also played host to six World Records and nine American Records. Sponsored by Reebok International Ltd., with its world headquarters in Canton, Mass., the event is owned and produced by Global Athletics & Marketing, Inc., an athlete-representation and events firm based in Boston.
