WESTBROOK, Maine – Olympia Sports has begun selling officially licensed TD Beach to Beacon 10K merchandise in six of its Maine locations. The merchandise, designed with the TD Beach to Beacon logo, is available at Olympia locations at The Maine Mall in South Portland, Falmouth, Freeport, North Windham, the Auburn Mall in Auburn and the Turnpike Mall in Augusta. All profits from the sale of all TD Beach to Beacon merchandise will be donated to this year’s race beneficiary, Rippleffect.
“We are very excited about our partnership as the official sporting goods retailer of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race,” said Ed Manganello, President of Olympia Sports. "The opportunity to raise money for a deserving organization like Rippleffect makes our involvement all the more satisfying.”
The merchandise is technical Nike running apparel and is available in men’s and women’s styles.
"We are delighted that Nike and Olympia have teamed up to offer TD Beach To Beacon participants something sporty to reward their efforts,” said Joan Benoit Samuelson, Olympic champion and Maine running icon who founded the TD Beach to Beacon in 1998.
The TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race is one of the gems on the U.S. road race circuit, attracting the world’s top professional runners to Maine each year. The race draws recreational runners from throughout Maine, New England and across the U.S. to the small coastal community of Cape Elizabeth. Each year, the race benefits a different children’s charity in Maine.
“This is pretty exciting, because proceeds for these products will help a great cause, our 2014 beneficiary Rippleffect,” said Mike Stone, volunteer president of the race. “It’s great when our sponsors do creative things like this, so we are grateful to Olympia Sports for taking this on.”
