Providence, RI –Scott Leslie and Jennifer Eldelmann were the big winners today at the third annual Cox Providence Rhode Races in Providence, RI.
Under summer-like temperatures, more than 5,000 runners competed in today’s third annual Cox Providence Rhode Races. The event featured three races - Cox Sports Marathon, Shape Up RI Half Marathon and the Harpoon 5k.
Leslie, 28, of Rutland, MA, was the first to cross the finish line at the Cox Sports Marathon in front of a large crowd of spectators on Exchange Terrace in downtown Providence. Leslie won the race in 2:35:48.
“I am happy with the win,” said Leslie, who went out of the pack of runners from the start and never looked back. “It was a good race for me. It was muggy and humid, but the sun kept back the clouds. The course was flat and fast. I started to slow down around mile 20 but I was able to hang on for the win.”
