Littleton's Christopher J. Russell has a new book, ''The Mid-Packer's Lament," a series of short stories on long-distance running, racing, and the humor of sports. A Groton [MA] native, Russell went to the Groton public schools and graduated from Lawrence Academy in Groton. Russell, who trains with his border collie, Buddy, is a member of a small running club called the Squannacook River Runners and participates in the Groton Road Race each spring and in the Boston Marathon every April. His musings about running appear regularly on the website, www.coolrunning.com. Russell plans to speak and sign books at the Groton Public Library on March 23 at 7 p.m.
