Bart Yasso is slated to return to Burlington, VT for the 23rd running of the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon. Yasso, the Chief Running Officer of Runners’ World magazine, and perhaps the nation at large, will be back in Burlington, VT to toe the start line in a race that has been a long time personal favorite. In 2009 Yasso named the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon as one of the “10 Great Places for Runners To Hit the Road,” a perspective that may be influenced by his love of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. According to Yasso, “I love the Burlington vibe on race weekend. The residents of Burlington embrace the race and the runners thrive off of the camaraderie.”

Yasso will be running on a 2 person relay team with an old friend, and someone who knows this race very well. Andrea Sisino, the former Executive Director of RunVermont and the woman who guided the development of the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon, will also be returning to Burlington for this year’s race. “It’s going to be great to have Bart and Andrea both here this year, and everyone’s excited that they’re going to be sharing a relay team” states Peter Delaney, the current Director of RunVermont.

But perhaps the most exciting aspect of Mr. Yasso’s visit will be one of his other duties on race weekend. According to Delaney, “We have asked Bart to help us with the ceremony to induct our 2011 honoree for the RunVermont Hall of Fame, and it’s no coincidence that he will be helping us honor his relay teammate, Andrea Sisino. Her contribution to this event, this organization and this community as a whole are simply beyond description and we couldn’t come up with better way to celebrate with her. Finally, after some 17 years, she will get to run in a race that she watched over for so many years. And what a great partner to run with, who wouldn’t want to share a team with Bart?”

The RunVermont Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, 5/27/11 as part of the KeyBank Vermont City Marathon’s weekend schedule of events. For more information go to vermontcitymarathon.org or call 802-863-8412.
