- Complimentary pizza and refreshments!
In addition to Olympian Todd Williams, representatives from the Boston Athletic Association and adidas will be available to encourage your training and answer your Boston Marathon-related training questions. According to Todd, to run a personal best you have to show your commitment in the right ways. Todd helps any runner at any level try to reach their goals by speaking about programs based around individual ability level. You don't have to be an Olympian just someone who's ready to train smart and hard to maximize your potential.
Run Details: Start at the Boston Marathon Finish Line on Boylston Street, take a left on Dartmouth Street, go to end and use pedestrian bridge to cross over Storrow Drive onto Charles River paths, bear right and head East towards Museum of Science, follow over to Cambridge side of Charles River paths and head West to Massachusetts Avenue, take left and cross bridge, stay on Massachusetts Avenue to Commonwealth Avenue and take right on Hereford Street, then left on Boylston Street, finish at Boston Marathon finish line. (Total Distance: 4.5 miles)
Representatives of the Boston Athletic Association and adidas will lead the group from the starting location at the CharlesMark to the Charles River Esplanade foot path, and runners will complete a loop along the Charles River at whatever pace you are comfortable with. Please remember that this group run is not a race, and all of our group runs have been scheduled to help you with your training by providing a fun and social atmosphere. You are encouraged to run at your normal training pace, and we will have representatives running with the group at various paces to accompany you. Your health, safety and security are important to us, and we’ll provide you with wrist-band identification when you get there!
The runs will start and finish in Boston's Back Bay area, beginning from the Boston Marathon finish line at the CharlesMark Hotel (655 Boylston Street, Boston), across from the Boston Public Library. If you are arriving by car, you may want to park at a nearby parking garage and not plan to find on-street, metered parking. If you are arriving by MBTA, Copley Station on the Green Line is directly across the street from our starting and finishing location.
If you are planning to join us for a run, please plan to meet near the Boston Marathon finish line, at the CharlesMark Hotel by 6:00 p.m. The runs will begin by 6:15 p.m. You are welcome to store your bags in an area within the CharlesMark, however please do not bring any valuables with you, as we are not responsible for lost, misplaced or stolen belongings. A representative of the group will remain with your gear during the run, but it is not a locker room.
Participation in this program and the group runs are both free, complimentary of the B.A.A. and adidas. Runners of all ability levels are welcome to attend. You do not need to participate in the run to join us afterwards for the post-run gathering, presentations, refreshments and raffles.
Jan. 31 will mark 81 days until this year’s Boston Marathon!
