USATF Announces Prize Money for .US National Road Racing Championships The men’s and women’s champions each will receive $20,000 for first place, with $10,000 being awarded to the runners-up and $7,500 going to third-place finishers

INDIANAPOLIS - The nation’s top distance runners will compete for a total prize purse of $100,000 at the 2013 .US National Road Racing Championships, USA Track & Field announced this week.
Unveiled lin February, USATF’s first wholly owned and operated race is a 12-kilometer (12K) event providing a season-capping finale to the USA Running Circuit (USARC), a series of national-championship races that annually provides nearly $1 million in prize money to American runners.
“It is always our goal to provide financial incentives and support that will move the needle for our athletes,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “Thanks to our partnership with .US, USA Track & Field is able to offer substantial prize money, particularly for a race of this distance.”
The men’s and women’s champions each will receive $20,000 for first place, with $10,000 being awarded to the runners-up and $7,500 going to third-place finishers. The full prize money structure is as follows:
