INDIANAPOLIS - USA Track & Field announced the Team USA roster for the 11th IAAF World Junior Championships, held August 15-20, in Beijing, China. The Team will also culminate their training camp by competing alongside some of the nation's top elite athletes at the Road to Eugene '08 on August 8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

A total of 82 athletes - 43 men and 39 women - will be part of the U.S. delegation for the World Junior Championships. The U.S. roster was determined at the 2006 Finish Line USA Junior Track & Field Championships, June 21-25, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Morocco medalists lead the way

2005 World Youth 400-meter hurdle champion and USATF Youth Athlete of the Year Ebony Collins will try to match her record-setting performance from last year but will face stiff competition from teammate and 2006 USA Junior champion Nicole Leach.

Nation's junior elite headline roster

2006 NCAA and 2005 Pan Am Junior champion Rebekah Noble will face the world's best junior women in the 800 meters. Noble is the first freshman ever to win an NCAA title.

Also look for BYU freshman Chris Carter, who took 3rd in the 400-meter hurdles as the NCAA Champs; 2006 Nike Outdoor Nationals 2,000m steeplechase champion Marie Lawrence; 2006 Nike Outdoor Nationals 100m champion Gabrielle Mayo; 2006 USA Junior Outdoor 100m and 200m champion Willie Perry, who took fifth in the 200m at NCAA Champs; 2005 Foot Locker XC and Nike Outdoor National 2-mile champion AJ Acosta in the 1,500m; and 2006 Nike Outdoor National champion Walter Henning, who set an American junior record in the hammer throw at the 2006 Finish Line USA Junior Championships.

Robert Weir, the Head Track and Field Coach at Stanford and the men's throws coach for the U.S. team at the 2005 IAAF World Championships, will lead the men's team in Beijing, while University of Texas at San Antonio distance coach Rose Monday will head the women's team.
