Team USA, Hershey’s prepare for big weekend at North American Finals

HERSHEY, Pa. - Team USA heads to Hershey, P.A., this weekend as the two join forces for the 2006 Hershey North American Finals, held Saturday, August 5 at the Milton Hershey School. The annual culmination of the hugely successful, 29-year-old Hershey's Track & Field Games, Saturday's North American Finals bring together top athletes from all 50 states as well as Canada to compete in age-graded competition.
For the first time, Team USA and USA Track & Field will stage exhibition events at Hershey's North American Finals and engage in promotional activities. In addition to competing in Hershey, stars such as #1 world ranked Sanya Richards, world champion Bershawn Jackson and Olympic gold medalists Richards, Monique Henderson, Darold Williamson, Derrick Brew and Dwight Phillips will actively participate in the fan and youth athlete experience.
National Track & Field Hall of Famers Carl Lewis and Rafer Johnson and legendary Olympic decathlon champion Dan O'Brien also will be on hand to meet fans and interact with athletes.
Fans attending the Hershey's North American finals on Saturday will be greeted at the gate by Team USA members, who will give out Team USA headbands courtesy of the Hershey Company. Additional fan promotions include:
* PERSONAL FAN. By random selection, fans will be chosen to be the Personal Fan of a Team USA member. These fans will be positioned at the finish line for each Team USA exhibition event. If their athletes win, the fans win prizes including a USATF/Nike gift bag with Nike running shoes, a USATF shirt, cap and bag
* FAN GIVE-AWAYS. Fans will have the chance to win one of thousands of Team USA items that will be given away
* SEE THE FUTURE. Fans can see the future of track & field compete at Hershey's North American Finals, while watching some of America's biggest stars compete as well.
