INDIANAPOLIS - Jenn Stuczynski has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after setting an American record in the women's pole vault Sunday at the adidas Track Classic in Carson, Calif.

The 2008 World Indoor silver medalist, Stuczynski raised the bar of the women's American record, winning the pole vault in a world-leading 4.90 meters/16 feet 0.75 inches. She bettered her own American record of 4.88m/16 feet set on June 2, 2007 in New York City. Only Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia has soared higher in the history of the event.

Now in its seventh year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
