Strong fields in women’s sprints and hurdles at AT&T USA Indoor Champs

INDIANAPOLIS - A talented group of women's sprinters and hurdlers will vie for national titles at the 2007 AT&T USA Indoor Championships, February 24-25 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston.
The final event of USA Track & Field's 2007 Indoor Visa Championship Series, the AT&T USA Indoor Championships will be televised on Sunday, February 25, from 4-6 p.m. Eastern Time on ESPN 2.
Hot hurdles
The hurdles provides a lineup of some of the country's top hurdlers. Danielle Carruthers, who led the 2005 Visa Championship Series for most of the indoor campaign, enters the meet with a seasonal best of 7.94 seconds, which she ran in finishing third to her coach and agent, Gail Devers, and Olympic gold medalist Joanna Hayes at the 100th Millrose Games. Carruthers also was the runner-up (8.10) at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on January 27. 2004 NCAA Outdoor 110m hurdles champion Nichole Denby, who won the Tyson Invitational in 8.02 seconds, also is entered.
The most intriguing entrant is undoubtedly six-time USA indoor champion, American record holder, and four-time World Indoor Championships gold medalist Gail Devers. The 40-year-old Devers, who won an historic 60 dash-60 hurdles double at the USA Indoor Championships in 2004, is coming off a win February 2 at the 100th Millrose Games and is slated to compete in Paris Friday night. She will make a decision on whether she will compete in Boston after traveling back to the U.S. on Saturday.
Bowen-Daigle, Hooker headline women's 60m sprint
Two of the hottest U.S.women's sprinters this indoor season will fight for supremacy in the women's 60 meters when Angela Bowen-Daigle and Marshevet Hooker square off in Boston.
The inaugural Indoor Visa Championship Series winner in 2005, Daigle-Bowen earned a big victory on February 2 in the Hershey's women's 60m dash at the 100th Millrose Games. Bowen-Daigle's winning time of 7.25 seconds was just good enough to defeat former University of Texas standout Marshevet Hooker, who was the runner-up in 7.32 seconds.
A multi-time NCAA champion while at Texas, Hooker won the Visa women's 60 meters at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on in 7.24 seconds, and was victorious in 7.26 seconds on February 9 at The Tyson Invitational.
Others to watch include former UCLA standout Hasani Roseby, who posted the fastest 60m time by an American this indoor season with her win at Flagstaff, Ariz., on January 20 in 7.20 seconds. Roseby also owns the third and fourth fastest times by an American this season of 7.22 and 7.23 seconds. Others to keep an eye on include 2004 Olympic 4x400m relay gold medalist Moushaumi Robinson and 2002 USA Outdoor long jump champion Brianna Glenn, who was fifth at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games in 7.33 seconds.
