Simonaitis named Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Dennis Simonaitis has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the USA Masters 10 km Championship Sundayat the Heritage Oaks Bank 10K in Paso Robles, Calif.

The 2004 USATF long-distance runner of the year in the 40-44 division, Simonaitis claimed his third consecutive title, crossing the finish line in 30 minutes 31 seconds.

Now in its sixth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
