INDIANAPOLIS - Phil Raschker has been named USATF's Athlete of the Week after winning six gold medals at the 2008 World Masters Indoor Athletics Championships, March 17-22, in Clermont-Ferrand, France.

The 2007 World Masters Athlete of the Year, Raschker racked up the hardware bringing home six gold medals and setting a World Indoor and an American Indoor record in the W60 age bracket. Rascker set a world record in winning the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.38 meters/4 feet 6.25 inches. The previous record of 1.37m/4-6 was set by German Renate Vogel in 2004. Raschker's winning leap of 9.11m/29-10.75 in the women's triple jump broke her own American record of 8.88m/29-1.75 set in 2007. She also won titles in the 60 meters (8.93 seconds), 200m (29.42) and long jump (4.31m/14-1.75).

Now in its seventh year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
