INDIANAPOLIS - Thomas Morgan has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the men's four mile road race at the 28th annual Emerald Nuts Midnight Run in New York City's Central Park.

A 2004 graduate of the University of Kentucky and former USATF intern, Morgan crossed the line in 18 minutes 31 seconds, just three seconds off of the course record. Morgan was able to defeat 11 athletes from the Brooks Hansons Distance Project who had come to New York not only to run the race, but to preview the Olympic Team Trials - Men's Marathon course.

Now in its sixth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.

2007 USATF Athlete of the Week Winners: January 2, Thomas Morgan.
