Chula Vista, Ca - Kevin Easter (USAF) won his first US 50 km Race Walk Championship today, in his debut at the distance, while Heidi Hauch defended her title in the event. Eastler, who was on a sub 4:00 pace until the final kilometers, achieved an IAAF B standard for the distance with his time of 4:05:44 to finish third overall behind Erik Tysse (Norway) 3:57:35 and Javier Moreno (Ecuador) 3:57:53. Hauch won easily in 5:42:55, besting her next opponent by 39 minutes. Mark Green continued his assault on the masters record book by setting the 50-54 record in a time of 4:37:28. The men's event served to select athletes who will represent the US at the Pan American Cup of Race Walking in Brazil and the IAAF World Championships in Japan.

In the accompanying 20 km event, Joanne Dow (adidas) and Theresa Vaill (WalkUSA) finished under the IAAF B standard with times of 1:34:21 and 1:34:42. Loretta Schuellein (WalkUSA) achieved an Olympic Trials qualifying performance with her 1:46:21 finish.

In total, 56 athletes took to the roads of the Chula Vista Marina at the first stop of the USA Race Walking Grand Prix. The next event, the USA 1 Mile Championship, is part of the 100th Millrose Games and marks the debut of the event for women at Millrose.
