Central Park TC Dominates Club Championships

Central Park Track Club New Balance (New York) dominated the twelfth edition of the USATF National Club Track & Field Championships that concluded on Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
In the women’s competition Central Park Track Club New Balance (CPTC) defended their 2010 and 2011 titles outscoring second place Club Northwest (Pacific Northwest) 265 to 183. Heather Miller scored 43 points to lead the effort for CPTC. Finishing third was Greater Boston TC (New England) with 93 points.
In the men’s competition Central Park led by Rolston Braithwaite’s 28.5 points claimed their second title in the past three years scoring a total of 259 points. The runner-up was meet host Team Nebraska / Brooks with 133 points followed by Greater Boston TC (New England) with 95 points.
Heather Miller of Central Park TC was the Most Valuable Female Athlete, scoring 43 points. She was second in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, third in the 100m Hurdles and Javelin, fourth in the 200m, and ran on the winning Sprint Medley and 4x400m teams. Rolston Braithwaite of Central Park TC was Most Valuable Male Athlete, scoring 28.5 points. He won the 110m Hurdles, was second in the Triple Jump, third in the Long Jump, and was a member of the second place 4x100 relay team.
The top women’s performance, based on the IAAF scoring tables, went to the two 400m winners - Lalonde Gordon (Zenith Velocity; New York) and Alianne Pompay (Shore AC; New Jersey). Gordon’s time of 45.02 was worth 1180 points on the scoring tables and gave him an Olympic A mark which should earn him a spot on the Trinidadian Olympic team. Pompay ran 52.10 which was worth 1130 points.
A total of five meet records were set.
