2007 New England Grand Prix Selected

Waltham, MA -- Last
night before a packed room at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts
the annual New England Grand Prix selection meeting was held. Entering its twenty-third
year, the USATF New England Grand Prix is considered by many the most competitive
club grand prix of its kind in the country. Clubs throughout Massachusetts,
New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont annually compete for both team and individual
honors over a seven-race circuit with distances ranging from 5K to the marathon.
After two years of little
change in the slate of races, attendees voted three new races into the series
(Groton, Westford, Bedford). This year's series is also taking on a strong Merrimack
Valley/Nashoba Valley presence with four of the seven events located within
this region (Groton, MA, Westford, MA, Harvard, MA, Bedford, NH). The voting
for all events, with the exception of the Cape Cod Marathon, which went unopposed,
was extremely close. Several events were decided by a single vote. Here is this
