This event is a must, an ideal fall race, whether you live in the Atlanta area or want to experience one of the eight iconic cities of the series as a destination. With terrific organization by US Road Sports and Entertainment Group, many amenities, live music, great course support along all 13.1 miles, this is a great opportunity to run and experience Atlanta as never before.
The start and finish for both the 13.1 Marathon and the Hyundai Hope on Wheels 5K will be located at Town Brookhaven, 4330 Peachtree Road, NE Atlanta 30319.
TOWN/Brookhaven is a state-of-the-art mixed-use development in Atlanta’s Brookhaven community, conveniently situated on Peachtree Road, north of Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza and adjacent to historic Oglethorpe University. It is served by a MARTA transit stop less than a mile away from the race start-finish, making it convenient from anywhere in the region, including Hartsfield International Airport. The MARTA Gold Line runs directly from the Airport to the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe stop where the races take place, just northeast of the city center.
On much of the course tree-lined residential streets will offer early fall comfort, and runners will enjoy going through two parks: Blackburn Park (miles 7 to 8) is located in the heart of Atlanta. It is home to the Blackburn Tennis Center and features softball, soccer, and multi-use fields, as well as a picnic area and trails for hiking and jogging.
Keswick Park (miles 10 to 11) is one of the larger parks in the region, covering more than 45 acres, with a neighborhood focus. The park contains primarily active recreation facilities including: walking trails, dog park, softball field, tee-ball field, soccer field, multi-purpose field, tennis courts, and an outdoor basketball court. Playground facilities are ADA accessible. The newest addition to the park is a walking trail connecting the park to the Mid-City District, a great place to run.

Atlanta is not only the capital of Georgia; it is the industrial, commercial and financial center of the Southeast. More than 750 of the Fortune 1000 companies have offices there, and gleaming skyscrapers mix with older attractive buildings and it is a very green city with an emphasis on green spaces and convenience. "Spaces" include 21-acre Centennial Olympic Park, site of the 1996 Olympics. The adjacent Georgia Aquarium is one of the largest and best in the world.
There are over 3,700 manufacturers operating in the area creating a notable dynamism. It is a runners’ magnet and has a strong history of running and racing. It is a great place to explore with a list of remarkable institutions and sites to see—too long for this space.
The 13.1 Marathon Atlanta is the sixth of eight race events in the national 13.1 Marathon series. It began in Los Angeles in January, followed by Miami in early March and New York in late March. Then came 13.1 Chicago Marathon in June, followed in September by 13.1 Boston (September 15), with 13.1 Dallas (October 26) and 13.1 Fort Lauderdale (November 10) to complete the series for the year. These are not HALF of anything; they are eight terrific events that have drawn praise and awe from throughout the running community. Each event includes a 5K in addition to the 13.1 Marathon
You will love this race, and you may want to do them all. But for starters don’t miss this exciting gem, an experience you will totally enjoy for the course, the locale, the amenities, and for just plain rockin’ fun! “It is more than a race—it’s a party!”
And a very rewarding one, with long sleeve Tech T’s for all 13.1 participants as well as a custom finisher’s medal runners can be proud of. They also have a lot of age groups awards in five-year groupings, starting with 12-14, 15-19, and then five year increments through 75 plus, women and men. That’s 84 awards for the 13.1 Marathon and another 84 for the 5K. There are also cash prizes for elite runners.
