Posted Saturday, 7 June, 2003 Wachusett is a 4.3 mile uphill mountain race (with 2 mild downhills) run on a paved access road to the summit of the mountain. The race climbs 1100' and is generally the fastest mountain race in New England (5:38 min per mile for male course record, 6:53 min per mile for female course record). Once again, this years race attracted many past & current members of the Teva US Mountain Running Team (and candidates) including: Paul Low - 2002 USATF Mountain Runner of the Year As expected, Paul and Eric lead the race from the start until Paul pulled ahead for good at the 1.5 mile mark. Paul had a strong race (winning in 24:50) backed up by several excellent snowshoe results this past winter and wins at the Merrimack River Trail Race and the 7 Sisters Trail Race.
