Looking for a real change of pace? Do you need a departure from the ordinary routine and hectic daily schedules? How about a vacation at a unique women’s running camp in an idyllic setting that offers the ideal combination of running, other recreation and activities, education, relaxation and friendship. And because the camp welcomes women 18 to 118, all ability levels, it is a great opportunity for every woman to meet her personal fitness and running goals.

This is the only such camp for women in New England, and one of very few in the nation. Whether you are new to running or a seasoned marathoner, whether you are 20 or over 60 years of age, run a 6 minute mile or a fourteen minute mile, this camp will provide a tailor made relaxed and supportive program that will inspire and motivate you beyond your expectations.

Visualize yourself having days filled with running adventures along the shimmering water’s edge and on flat backcountry roads that wind through tranquil forests. And if your heart desires, there will still be time for yoga, kayaking, swimming, hiking or just relaxing on the beaches.

It comes as no surprise that this novel idea was home grown in Vermont by local runners. The organizers are part of Run Vermont, the same successful and innovative group that that developed the Key Bank Vermont City Marathon into one of the premier running events in the Northeast. They have a wealth of experience and expertise when it comes to catering to runners who expect quality. And that is just what you will find here amid the shimmering waters of Lake Champlain.

The camp is designed to address each runner’s specific goals for improvement. Therefore, the camp is limited to 20 women with a coach to runner ratio of 4 to 1. Under the guidance and support of their expert staff, women of all abilities and levels of fitness can maximize their experience and reap the rewards of the special personal satisfaction that only running can bring.

Take the Scenic Route
Have the time of your life running in an amazing setting filled with Vermont’s finest natural beauty. What a great way to super charge your running enthusiasm and to take advantage of a little help from your friends. Picture yourself running with like minded new friends on soft trails and lovely back roads. Camaraderie like this is a sure way to enhance your overall experience and level of motivation. Who knows about all of the possibilities for lasting friendships and the number of miles you will run together? All women benefit tremendously from this experience in several ways.

Find Your True Calling
The camp format also includes daily workshops to improve performance through form drills, stretching, core strengthening, and track /aquatic workouts. Other highlights include workshops in nutrition, sports psychology, and injury prevention. Learn about gait analysis, heart rate monitoring and strength training. Boost your performance with a fresh new approach offered by these inspirational seminars. Take your running to the next level with information about physiology and the connection between mental skills and physical performance. Examine your own training and running habits to learn what kind of running will give you the most satisfaction and the best performances.

A noteworthy new feature this year is that the camp is offering VO2 Max heart rate testing for participants who wish to take part. This testing measures the maximum amount of oxygen that can be consumed per minute while exercising. There are many ways to raise VO2 Max. Beginners can improve by as much as 20 percent while fit runners can fine tune it in order to run with increased efficiency.

One of the best aspects of the camp is that each day participants have the opportunity to apply expert advice and other valuable information on their training runs, to see it in action, to experience it in the moment. Just think, if you need to make adjustments to your regimen or refine your technique, there are experts on hand to guide you by answering questions and providing counsel and support in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. It is a runner’s dream come true!

Beautiful Basin Harbor Club
Participants from prior years have delighted in all of the great amenities that the camp offers. The Basin Harbor Club, located on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain is about 20 miles south of Burlington and west of Montpelier, is renowned for its classic Vermont charm. The club consists of a lodge, cottages, and communal dining area. There is also a golf course, spa and tennis courts. Prices are based on your length of stay and whether you will be having single or double occupancy room. If you are looking for a roommate, the camp does a wonderful job matching participants up. The camp also provides free pick up and drop off from Burlington International Airport, which has major flights that arrive and depart daily.

Other amenities include healthy meals from Vermont’s freshest sources. Take an entirely new approach to nutrition by fueling yourself with wholesome foods that contain a healthy balance of nutrients and see the difference it makes in physical performance. You will savor every bite!
