Providence, Rhode Island
is one of America's running hotbeds. But even Providence has never experienced
anything like this before. Starting at the Rhode Island Convention Center, there
will be thousands of runners and walkers running the downtown streets in costume
for a 5K loop, and there will be hundreds of kids running a 1K fun run trying
to Beat Frankenstein himself, all ending right back at the Convention Center-to
kick off a fantastic Trick or Treat party with Monsters galore handing out lots
of candy. These monsters, courtesy of Monster Mini Golf, have promised to be
friendly for this day, but you never know. And you don't know who else might
show up! Rumor has it that the colorful zombie rock band The Rolling Bones will
be in the building before and after the race. There are prizes for running-individual
and team categories, but also prizes for the best costumes in many categories,
so it will be a sight to behold.

This is a really enjoyable
Halloween event where participants are encouraged to dress and run in costume-volunteers
too! This first ever unique racing event invites team competitions for corporations,
running clubs, schools, colleges, gyms, families, social organizations, charities,
agencies and others. It takes place in Providence, Rhode Island on October 31,
with the Monster Kids event at 10:00 a.m. and the Mini 5K Dash at 11:15. This
amazing Dash cannot be missed! http://www.monsterminidash.com/
And another incentive to
sign up early: there are custom tech long sleeve T-shirts for the first 3,000
(see the Website for photo). All others who are preregistered will receive a
standard T-shirt.
The Monster Kids 1K is for
all kids 14-and-under, and parents or caregivers are invited to run with them.
Parents and caregivers may also accompany the kids into the Monster Bash in
the Convention Center to visit the Monsters (exciting props and monsters courtesy
of Monster Mini Golf) and enjoy the most unique trick or treat day ever. Don't
let your kids miss this: a run and lesson in healthy life style and trick or
treat rewards at the end. Ideal!

And kids love mini golf.
Another amenity: The Monster Mini Dash will be using state of the art B Tag
timing systems so all runners will get an accurate time and All runners will
receive a Buy one get 1 FREE ticket to any Monster Mini Golf. Indoor Glow-in-the-Dark
Mini Golf is a fun time for humans of all ages! And by the way, families can
sign up with a discount. Again, please see the race Website http://www.monsterminidash.com/
The Rhode Island Convention
Center at One Sabine Street is the ideal space for this extravaganza, and everything
will be centered there. They have over 2,000 parking spaces-and plenty of space
for monsters handing out candy. This is also race headquarters, and near the
start and finish. Participants may get a glimpse of things to come when they
avoid the rush by registering or picking up race packets on Saturday, October
30, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Packet pick up and registration will also be available
on Halloween Race Day, 9:00 a.m. to 10:45. But we suggest you sign up in advance-discounts
for doing so on line.

Prizes for individuals include
ten-year age groups, and there are also prizes in various team categories (unlimited
number my sign up, top three score). And how is this for a wide range of prizes/categories
for best costume: Frankenstein, Dracula, Mummy, Zombie, Werewolf, Goth, Stella
Skellarella, Jawbone; add special prizes for the most creative costume, best
rock band or rock star, and best (home made) super hero or princess costume.
Wow!
There is also a serious
charity aspect to this event. Please take note of the charity page on the Race
Website, and contribute as much as possible.
Not up to running? This
event is looking for some enthusiastic volunteers (see the website); if ever
there was a fun event to volunteer for, this is it!
All in all this is a race,
and a Halloween party, you simply do not want to miss. Run it. Experience it!
