Earth Day is actually April 22, of course, and this year will be the 45th anniversary of the movement that began in 1970; and many credit that day as the beginning of the current environmental movement. At Stonyfield every day is Earth Day! Some proceeds from the race will go to the Non Game &Endangered Wildlife Program.
This will also be the sixth of eight events in the LOCO Sports Will Run for Beer Series: http://www.willrunforbeer.com/.
Yes, both the race and the fair begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16 at the Stonyfield Yogurt Works at 10 Burton Drive, Londonderry, New Hampshire. Londonderry is a small town with a rich history and distinctive character, including farms and apple orchards. Londonderry is also easy to get to near Interstate 93 and less than an hour from Boston.
The post-race celebration features delicious food with healthy snacks and beverages for one and all including, of course, Stonyfield products. The fair and celebration will continue until 1:00 p.m. Additionally, many of the participating sponsors and vendors will be giving away free samples.
The 5K Road Race and Walk
The course is relatively flat, featuring modest elevation changes in a wide open, mostly rural area of Londonderry. The race starts and finishes at the prestigious Stonyfield Yogurt Works facilities. It is a really fun and interesting course with chances to see the leaders, friends, teammates and family members as they pass. It is unique because shortly after the start ALL runners will have friends running alongside and also running opposite direction most of the way, providing a rare view of the rest of the field no matter where you place.
Number pick up is race morning at the Stonyfield Yogurt Works from 8:00 a.m. through 9:45 a.m., but they urge everyone to get there at least an hour before start time at 10:00 because of the restricted parking and road closures. There will be a bag check. The race is Chip timed by Yankee timing Company with a start and finish mat for accurate net times. There will be a cap of 2,000 participants in the 5K so plan accordingly and above all don’t get shut out, this race will sell out!
