The Run of Hope is an event for the entire family, sponsored by the Four Seasons Hotel of Boston in support of pediatric cancer care and ongoing research at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. Come to the Esplanade on the Charles River near the Hatch Shell (Fiedler Statue).
This will be a run and walk that makes you feel really good, physically and spiritually, because the cause is so important and so urgent. The long term survival rate for pediatric cancer is now above 75%, and they want to push that toward 100%. Many of the patients at this wonderful institution would love to participate in those fun run dashes or fitness walks. With the help of the participating community, many more will.
David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox will be there to thrill kids and adults alike as he helps kick off all events—the kids 50-meter dashes, the 2K fitness walk, and the 5K road race; this before he heads to Fenway Park to take on the Washington Nationals later at 4:00 p.m. on national television.
This June 9, make your distance effort really count. Turn your love of running into philanthropic adventure by raising money and running or walking for a life-changing cause: helping children and their families battle cancer. Each step you take is a step toward research, support, recovery and hope for hundreds of kids and families in their fight against this devastating disease. https://give.massgeneral.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=695
When you run your race or walk your walk, make every step count. Here is your chance to make a difference in hundreds of lives. Help give light and joy to children and families living through some of their darkest hours. Help provide solace and support to families struggling with childhood cancer by joining with the Four Seasons, Mass General Hospital for Children, David Ortiz and other volunteers. Help provide much needed funds for research and run with purpose and a hero’s heart as you cross the finish line of the Four Seasons Run of Hope.
Each and every day hundreds of children visit this wonderful institution for treatment of blood disorders and cancer. The enormously expensive and necessary care they receive is dependent on people like you who are willing to make the effort both to put in the miles and also seek support through donations. You have the power to provide life-saving services now and research for future prevention to children fighting so hard for their lives. Whether you are a seasoned runner with little-to-no fundraising experience or a novice runner who has raised thousands of dollars for a charitable organization, it all begins with you. You have the feet that will take you through your race, and you have the heart to raise funds for a much-needed cause.
Please join the mission to find a cure for childhood cancer, and be confident that 100% of your contributions, and those of your family, friends and co-workers, will go directly to MGH for Children. There are awards and rewards. The top fundraising winner will receive a trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles (two nights in each city); second place wins a two night stay in Miami including air; and third place receives a two night stay at the Fours Seasons Hotel in Boston. https://give.massgeneral.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=695
The Mix 104.1 Ice Cream Truck will be there to help kids and adults stay cool and nourished before and after the run. There will be an honest to goodness pancake breakfast with Truffles the Bear. Fitness experts will lead an organized pre-race stretch; there will be music to get everyone pumped. The raffle will not disappoint. There may be some familiar kids’ TV characters on hand, and there will be games and activities for all throughout the day, including the kids’ dash, a soccer clinic, face painting and much more. You can view photos from previous years on the Event Website.
Things kick off at 8:30 a.m. with registration and packet pick up, and family activities begin right away. Stay tuned for special characters to make an appearance at 9:00, followed by the pancake breakfast. Pre-race stretches will begin about 10:10 a.m. with the Kids’ Fun Runs of about 50 meters blasting off at 10:15. David Ortiz will be the official starter for the 5K road race at 10:30 a.m. and the 2K fitness walk five minutes later. Race awards, fundraising prize winners, the general raffle, and light post race refreshments will be held around 11:20.

Be a Part of It—Improve your Own Health and Help Others
No child or family in should have to face cancer alone. This is an essential part of the mission of Massachusetts General Hospital for Children—and the Four Seasons Run of Hope. It is why the program exists. Giving comfort to young patients and emotional support to families is vitally important. Research may soon find a cure, but in the meantime funding is critical. The hospital offers hope and healing to children facing some of the most difficult challenges anyone can face: a disease that requires full-time medical and emotional attention, a disease where the odds of survival are not YET 100%. Let’s run and be a part of this mission.
