This is the endurance challenge you have been waiting for: Seven Marathons, Seven Continents, Seven Weeks beginning in January of 2010. Team Members will be Running the Races of their lives, and truly making a difference in the lives of children who desperately need help—children who depend on Hope Runs. This adventure will push team members to their personal limits with extensive training in the months leading up to the actual races. Team members will be heroes in their communities, and will share camaraderie with other members that will surely develop into friendships for a lifetime. There is no greater satisfaction available in distance running, and this is one for the ages; an adventure you will remember and share with family and friends for the rest of your life.
Runners are signing up now for the extensive training program (outlined below) in preparation for this fantastic adventure.
Hope Runs, which has been featured widely in press, uses running as a community builder in Africa where structured school programs and other sports are not available, so it is fitting that their programs will be partly supported by a phenomenal running adventure and achievement. If you have any questions about the 777 Challenge, don’t hesitate to contact email@example.com.
This endurance challenge is a tremendous vehicle to raise both awareness and funding for vital programs. It represents individual dedication, commitment, and sacrifice, and also the logistical and planning challenges that very few organizations would or could try. Hope Runs proves every day that what some see as impossible or too overwhelming to attempt, they take it as a team challenge to change the world, one young life at a time. Orphaned kids can lead normal lives with a bright outlook and the confidence to make their way in the world, contributing, giving back, and thus multiplying the results of the team effort.
It is possible! These kids can all grow up to lead happy, healthy, productive lives. Hope Runs is firmly dedicated to that idea; they have the perseverance and commitment to make it happen. They are willing to go the extra 26 miles seven times to prove it. Are You? Running is life—pass it on!
Join the Team
Join Hope Runs in their bold recognition that the poverty, conflict, disease, and the Aids epidemic in East Africa are tragic for all concerned. And join in their determination to do something about it. These plagues have taken the lives of so many. Hope Runs was founded with the belief that these third world realities need not destroy the lives of victims’ children. Through the power of running, and the power of hope, these individual tragedies can be mitigated, and the kids can have the opportunity for a better life through running, education, and material support.
Indeed, until we have the knowledge and tools to conquer diseases that are so devastating to this part of the world, it will be necessary for us to provide for the innocent kids left behind. This adventure and athletic challenge will help fund this effort, and will also raise awareness throughout the USA for the plight of these kids who have lost everything.
There are so many terrific and rewarding aspects to the program, it will literally change your own life as you work and train to affect the lives of others. Even if you have no previous experience with fundraising, you will find it is a breeze with expert support. You can count on the team at Hope Runs to show you how to make fundraising easy and effective. You will be amazed at how supportive relatives, friends, coworkers, and entire communities will be when someone they know becomes a hero—a real life hero involved with such a meaningful adventure and highly valued charitable purpose.
Hope Runs is a program for every runner, one new to marathons or a seasoned veteran, or somewhere in between. Now is the time to make your running and training mean something more, something much greater than you. There will be no better time; there will be no better opportunity. You can dramatically increase the value of every mile you run. It is a great feeling to know that you can give something back through the sport you love. Set your goals and lend a helping hand in this tremendously important endeavor simply by doing something that you always wanted to do, but never thought it possible.
Spread the word, gather your friends; get your running club involved. And feel free to read about the current members! Everyone will want to participate through you in this priceless experience of making a difference in the lives of individual orphaned kids. And this is not a huge and theoretical charity that uses most of the funds for administration. This is a very targeted program supporting two excellent Orphanages, and the specific kids who live there. Every cent is put to good use. It will support their day to day lives, and especially the programs leading to better health and self esteem through running. There is no better inspiration and motivation for maintaining or increasing your running goals than the satisfaction and joy of knowing that your fundraising efforts will enable teachers and coaches to help these kids achieve their dreams.
The Tumaini Children’s Home and Huruma Orphanage
There are an estimated 53 million orphans in Africa, having lost both parents to disease, poverty, AIDS and other illnesses. Nearly 300 of them reside in the Tumaini Children’s Home in Nyeri, Kenya and the Huruma Orphanage nearby. These kids range in age between 6 and 22, and most of them live on the grounds and attend local schools. Innovative programs include a computer center, a new vocational training school and program, and a health clinic that serves the home and the community at large. Hope runs assists with many programs; including coached daily running groups, business and entrepreneurship training, and also provides many scholarships. They also support an information exchange via internet, e-mail, and blogs.
Both homes have proven to be exceptionally strongly committed to community building and the welfare of the kids they serve. Partnering with these specific homes narrows the focus and provides for very targeted programs for specific kids, some of whom are handicapped. These programs are tremendously important, beneficial, and challenging. See details about the homes and programs on the Website at www.hoperuns.org and explore the story behind Hope Runs as well as the goals.
The commitment, resilience, good humor, and strength of the homes, the kids, and the Hope Runs organization make for a great match; providing a terrific opportunity to truly make a meaningful difference in the lives of many. Tumaini means “Hope” in Swahili, and Huruma means “Mercy”.
Hope Runs 777 Program and Schedule
The 777 endurance challenge, a Guinness World Record breaking endeavor, will kick off January 31, 2010 after months of training and preparation. The ultimate goals are both personal and team oriented, with benefits to Hope Runs and efforts to work with and equip these orphaned kids with the tools they need to succeed and escape the grip of poverty and debilitating illness.
The seven marathons take place on all seven continents, and include:
Buller Marathon, Westport, New Zealand February
Antarctica Marathon, King George Island, Antarctica March
Falkland Islands Marathon March
Probable records include:
Fastest combined running time for a woman to complete seven marathons on seven continents; best combined running time for seven marathons on seven continents; youngest woman to complete seven marathons on seven continents. Additional record will likely be set for the best combined running time for a man on seven marathons on seven continents.
The Hope Runs Training Program
No one expects you to go out and run seven marathons in seven weeks without proper training and preparation, which is why Hope Runs participants are now signing up for training for the first marathon in late January. They have teamed with Focus-N-Fly (FNF) as a training partner. They provide a personalized, interactive program designed to enable runners of varying ability and experience to reach these seven finish lines. They have a comprehensive and specific plan for this unique challenge, and the program will include networking to share experiences and preparations with other members of the team from around the country and around the world. Respected coaches will offer training advice, and blogs and e-mails from East Africa will provide additional and ongoing incentive.
You Can Participate Through Donations, Volunteer Efforts, and Sponsorships
Many who cannot run these marathons due to family or employment obligations will be providing support for the cause through donations. Not every person on the team will be running the specified marathons. Some will run planned marathons and raise funds to donate to Hope runs, and get involved to the extent possible.
Others will enroll as sponsors, either as individuals or companies, and provide both financial and in-kind help for the team and the Hope Runs organizations. All runners should do what the can for this vital cause. Some will run to make a difference, and some will make running and health possible for hundreds of kids. Please go the Website www.hoperuns.org for more specifics on donations, sponsorships volunteers, and contributions.
