Running the Race Against Cancer® is a program that allows you to complete any race of any distance, anywhere in the world, while supporting the lifesaving mission of Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. You determine your own fundraising goals and run your favorite local road race, or you can choose to travel anywhere around the world. Whether you run three miles or 26, you can make a difference in the lives of cancer patients everywhere.

Mission Possible
The time is right to join with Dana-Farber in making its mission possible by becoming a Running the Race Against Cancer® participant. Reach beyond what you thought was possible for yourself as well as for others.

Running the Race Against Cancer® is a program for every runner. In fact, you can do it even if you have never raced before! Simply register for the racing event that is the right challenge for you, and then contact Dana-Farber to get started with your fundraising. Remember it can be any race, anywhere, and at any distance. Chances are you have already set your sights on some of the season’s upcoming races, and now you can make your running mean something more. It is a great feeling to know that you can make a difference through the sport you love. Set your goals and lend a helping hand in the fight against cancer simply by doing something that you already plan to do. You can even target multiple events.

Be Inspired
There is no better inspiration and motivation for maintaining or increasing your running goals than the satisfaction and joy of knowing that your fundraising efforts will enable Dana-Farber researchers to achieve better cure rates and to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients and their families. Even if you have no previous experience with fundraising, the team at Dana-Farber puts the fun in fundraising, making it easy and effective. You will also be amazed at how supportive relatives, friends, and coworkers are when someone they know is involved in raising funds for a well known and highly valued charitable purpose. Spread the word, gather your friends; get your running club involved. Everyone will want to participate in this priceless experience of making a difference in the lives of individuals battling cancer. Yes, redefine your personal best and strive for that ultimate finish line—a cure for cancer.

The Program
To fill out the program’s online registration form go to the Running the Race Against Cancer site: http://www.jimmyfund.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=289088&track=coolrunning

From there you will be able to use online tools to create and personalize your web page and e-mail friends and family members to support your race and your goals. You will also have access to virtual support from Dana-Farber’s dedicated Marathon and Running Programs’ staff. Use the “Fundraising Campaign” guide to find ideas to raise funds.

Dana–Farber Teams
Did you know that you can also become a member of an official Dana-Farber running team? Teams are comprised of dedicated individuals of all running abilities who are united in their tremendous personal commitment to fighting cancer. The teams participate in the Falmouth Road Race, B.A.A. Half Marathon®, ING New York City Marathon®, and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon®, as well as the B.A.A. Boston Marathon® though the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team. If you are looking for an unforgettable racing experience filled with spirited camaraderie, one of these teams may be right for you.
