Welcome to the fourth and final event in this unique series of women-only trail races. New England women join the ranks of runners in three other fantastic locations in the series: Pasadena, California; Richmond, Virginia; and Portland, Oregon. New England women are in luck as this successful series concludes at the Great Brook Farm State Park in Carlisle, Massachusetts at 9:00 a.m. on September 7th. Take part in this celebration of togetherness and health and fitness in an idyllic natural setting. Join hundreds of women as they participate in a spectacular trail race. Run or walk through fields, along forest roads and trails, and view beaver ponds on a dazzlingly beautiful 8K loop course.

New England has a well earned reputation for being the national hotbed for women’s running. The famous Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women, a Columbus Day tradition in Boston, is a fine example of a premier running event for women only. And it is just six weeks away. Carlisle, located just 25 miles outside Boston, is the ideal site for the fantastic finale of the trail series, a sure fire energizer for your fall racing season, and a great warm-up for the Tufts 10K.

Location is Everything
It is no wonder that Great Brook Farm State Park, located at 984 Lowell Street, Carlisle, was chosen by Yankee Magazine’s Travel Guide to New England as “Editor’s Pick 2000”. It stands as a jewel in northern Massachusetts, highlighted by a rich historic agricultural tradition as well as notable Native American sacred sites. Delight in the bucolic scenery of the park, which includes 20 miles of trails for running, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. This is guaranteed to be New England trail running at its finest at a very convenient location!

Whether you are a seasoned trail runner or a first timer, you will thrill to the spirit of adventure and fun in the great outdoors with other women. Experience the camaraderie! If you are strictly a road runner, it is most definitely time for a change of pace. This terrific five-mile trek is designed to inspire and empower runners of all ages and abilities, and is open to walkers too. Turn your passion for running and the great outdoors into action. Make every step count. This truly one-of-a-kind event is terrific running and exercise, and also an event to feel really good about--$7.00 of each entry fee will benefit the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation to support research, prevention and treatment of ovarian cancer. Through the Run Like a Girl race series, Montrail is honored to donate over $21,000 as the Visionary Supporter. In addition, $1.00 from each entry fee will be donated to Great Brook Farm State Park to help maintain those beautiful trails.

Getting There—Bring Friends and Make New Ones
Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to be among hundreds of women who will participate in this unique race at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday September 7th. As with most State Parks, parking at Great Brook Farm is limited. Fortunately, race organizers have arranged three convenient race day options for getting to the race site:

Car Pooler’s on-site: A limited number of parking spots at the park race site will be granted on a first come, first served basis to vehicles with three or more occupants. Car pool overflow will be directed to the Carlisle Middle School where shuttle buses will be provided.

Off-site parking in two locations: Shuttle buses will run about every 10 minutes from Carlisle Regional High School and Carlisle Middle School (great directions to the park and both schools on the Website). These two locations are for vehicles with less than three occupants or anyone who wants the convenience of a ride to the race. There is also a car pool pick up / drop off location, so that you and your friends can meet and drive together.

And to help save on time and crowding the morning of the race, packet pickup in advance will be available at Eastern Mountain Sports: Friday at the Harvard Square store in Cambridge, and Saturday at the Needham Street store in Newton, Massachusetts. For specific dates, times and locations, directions as well as additional information and race rules, please visit the race website at http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1594184&assetId=5f1909f8-69e6-492c-862f-116151bd0d64

Awards and Prizes
Be the first in your running community to sport a Mountain Hardwear technical shirt and Run Like a Girl Socks! All lucky race participants will receive these. In addition, there will be other prizes given away courtesy of Montrail, Eastern Mountain Sports and other sponsors.

The top three overall finishers will each win a pair of Montrail shoes. The top finisher in each age group will also win a pair of Montrail shoes, and second and third place age group finishers will receive Molokini Sandals.
