They concluded the hugely successful ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon and accompanying 10K on June 5, 2011; that followed by the Colorado Half Marathon and 10K on July 17. The Annapolis run started and finished at the famous Navy Marine Corps Stadium, ran around the Maryland state capitol and through historic downtown Annapolis—this opportunity to run through the capital is practically unprecedented, but this was the fifth annual for ZOOMA. There are few races in the Capital City on the Chesapeake Bay. Post race celebrations were held in the stadium end zone, including a great expo. This event was the very first ZOOMA Women's Race, initiated in 2008; over 1,600 runners enjoyed that inaugural. Since then growth has been steady and well planned. And the legend continues to build as Annapolis becomes a classic women's event and the ZOOMA Women's Race Series continues to expand nationwide. The Colorado event was a tremendous success with the fabulous backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.
Thousands of women will cross a ZOOMA finish line this year, and even more as the events grow into 2012. You can be part of it! The idea is empower women to feel the exhilaration, pride, and sense of personal accomplishment that result from meeting fitness challenges head on, and accomplishing goals. The concept is to have the best, most memorable time ever in running and fitness. Whether you are an accomplished runner or novice, whether you run 5K or 10K, or one of their signature half marathons, the ZOOMA Women’s Race Series welcomes you and invites you to cross that triumphant finish line. Everyone is welcome to participate in these women’s races.
Following a great summer, ZOOMA moves to Wisconsin with the ZOOMA Great Lakes Half Marathon and 5K, which will roll in Fontana, Wisconsin—85 miles north of Chicago, 45 minutes from Milwaukee. Then on to the South with ZOOMA Atlanta Half Marathon and 5K on November 26, 2011. The second ZOOMA Texas is planned for March 31, 2012 in Austin, a Half Marathon and 5K.

What about ZOOMA?
The mission is, “to inspire women to live healthy and active lives". We all know that fellow runners encourage each other, and women love to celebrate personal triumphs and enjoy the spirit of the moment. And after their victory, these goal-oriented women share “well deserved partying and pampering" at each event.
The ZOOMA success has been driven by many factors. They provide what women want; hold events in ideal regions, set up resorts and spas to provide comfort and pampering throughout; establish expos of interest to women athletes, team with charities in each location, and so much more. Finally, they are expert in working with town governments and civic groups where the events are held.
Great Locations, Enjoyable Destinations
Each ZOOMA event will be full of perks for participants, providing not only a race but a happening and a true getaway experience. For example, Barefoot Wine and Bubbly is a sponsor and all participants are treated to complimentary wine at the post race. Unique jewelry is awarded all finishers rather than medals. Free training, virtual or actual, is available to all and is especially handy for those women tackling the half marathon for the first time. Runners will experience a well supported course with water and energy drinks, GU energy gel stations, and post food and refreshments. Every event hosts an expo with vendors that are clearly relevant to women athletes. Free massage helps, and they always have music. All courses are USATF-certified, and results are provided by the Chronotrack—chips within your personal race bib.
Also uniquely ZOOMA, events are held in truly interesting, ultimate getaway resorts, such as the Hilton Antlers and Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs; the Abby Resort and Spa on Lake Geneva in Fontana, Wisconsin; the Chateau Elan, located near Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia—surrounded by vineyards. The Austin event was held at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa in nearby Bastrop, Texas. Details on all locations can be found on www.zoomarun.com
A ZOOMA event emphasizes what makes women special, unique, strong and limitless. Each event, each race is a testament to the power of women and a celebration of woman’s health and fitness. With the camaraderie of all-women races, there is no better way, no better time, to strengthen your commitment to healthy living.
