It is sure to be an unforgettable race experience in a magical paradise. The Pensacola Double Bridge 15K Run spans two bridges, across Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound. This spectacularly scenic tour includes downtown Pensacola, the historic district, picturesque Bayfront Parkway and a run through Gulf Breeze and onto Pensacola Beach—and of course, the famous bridges.
The 5K beckons both runners and walkers to enjoy the sights from Gulf Breeze to beautiful Pensacola Beach on Santa Rosa Island and the Gulf Islands Seashore. Runners will delight in the gentle breezes and the sight of crystal clear waves from an emerald sea.
With so much to do and see in Pensacola Bay area, your running adventure will extend beyond the race and will be filled with endless possibilities for the whole family to enjoy. This is a magical place where the beaches stretch sparkling and white; brimming with natural beauty. Open the door to a world alive with a 450 year old history, the National Aviation Museum, plenty of outdoor adventure, restaurants and entertainment. View from the Bridges
The Double Bridge Run offers more than double running enjoyment given that both the 15K and the 5K courses show off the stunning landscape that Pensacola Bay is famous for. More than half of the 15K (9.3 miles) offers fantastic water views from Pensacola across Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound to the shimmering white sands of Pensacola Beach. The 5K runs from Gulf Breeze to the co-located finish at Pensacola Beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
The Double Bridge Run 15K starts on south Polofax Street in front of the new De Luna Park in downtown Pensacola at 7:00 a.m. It is a USATF-certified 9.3 mile course that begins in the historic district, runs north on Palofax Street, east on Garden Street, south on Alcaniz Street for a tour of downtown, then east on the beautiful Bayfront Parkway and across the Pensacola Bay Bridge to Gulf Breeze. From there the course crosses the Bob Sikes Bridge to Pensacola Beach.
The 5K Race and Walk will start at 8:00 a.m. at the Gulf Breeze Schools. It starts with a loop in Gulf Breeze before heading out to the Bob Sikes Bridge and the Gulf Breeze Parkway to Pensacola Beach.
Prize Money and Awards
Monetary awards will be given to the first three overall finishers for men and woman in the 15K- $1,250 to the first male and female finisher, second is $500 and third place is $250. In addition to the overall top three, there will be awards for the top three masters, grand masters, and senior grandmasters. Prizes for age divisions go three deep in both the 15K as well as the 5K. Awards in the 5K walkers division go five deep to men and women in two age divisions: 0-39 and 40+.
It is no surprise that the Pensacola Double Bridge Run, with its great location, terrific organization and attention to detail by the host organization, the Pensacola Sports Association, draws some of the best runners around. Last year’s male winner was James Carney with a time of 44:46. Janet Cherobon had a winning time of 51:05. Previous year’s winners included two-time USA Olympian, Amy Rudolph.
Registration and Packet Pick- Up
Registration for the 15K is capped at 2,500. The 5K is capped at 1,200 runners and 300 walkers. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! Register online through February 1st. After that you must register at the Race Expo. There will be no race-day registration so please plan ahead and register now. Late registration at the Expo will run Thursday February 3rd and Friday February 4th at the Hilton Gulf Front on Pensacola Beach.
