The countdown to the 38th Annual Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa Village, Florida has begun! The Running Zone and the Space Coast Runners welcome you to the only space- themed marathon in the country. This unique event will blast off on Sunday, November 29th, on beautiful USATF-certified waterfront courses along Florida’s famed east coast. And with the Kennedy Space Center serving as a dramatic backdrop for the race, it is no wonder that the Space Coast Marathon receives high praise from throughout the country.

There aren’t many earthlings who will be able to resist the absolutely delightful space- themed activities, including a best space costume contest and plenty of photo opportunities. In keeping with the space theme, all finishers will receive space certificates and astronaut medals.

In addition, every participant is eligible for the grand prize drawing of four passes to “Dine with an Astronaut” and a “NASA Up Close Tour” at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex. One of the most popular programs at the Kennedy Space Center, “Lunch with an Astronaut” gives visitors a thank-your-lucky-stars kind of experience where visitors enjoy a delicious meal, meet a and chat with a veteran member of NASA’s Astronaut Corps, and perhaps get an autograph.

Course Highlights
Get set to blast off at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning for the 38th running of the Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa Village; both races start at the same time and location. Beginning with a spectacular sunrise, you will be in for a rare treat as you enjoy this beautiful waterfront course along the Indian River and the Intracoastal Waterway. Scenic and serene, it is a runner’s paradise. But wait, there is more! You can count on the exceptional race organization to make this an unforgettable, fun-filled experience. As you might imagine the sky is the limit when it comes to a race of this magnitude and longevity.

You will start your race to the roar of a space shuttle countdown and liftoff on the Jumbotron. There is nothing like it to get your boosters powered. And to keep you energized along the way, there will be ample aid stations offering water and sports drinks along with gels starting at mile 8. You will be over the moon with delight at the space props along the course, including volunteers dressed in NASA-like outfits.
